PROJECT - SERVICE TO OTHERS
Every year District 12 applies for a grant up to $4000 from Provincial RTO/ERO for funding for a local project. The project must provide a benefit to the community. Projects can involve issues of heritage, safety, education, health and recreation for any age.
Our District has been successful the past 5 years. To date we have received grants for the Pipe Band at Pt Dover High School, the Grade 5 Heritage Program at the Delhi Tobacco Museum, the Remembering the One Room School House Project at Backus Conservation and Heritage Museum, the Teen Arts Council at Norfolk Arts Center, the Waterford Aphasia project, Senior In-School Literacy Mentoring, furniture for a Trade School in Rwanda, a photocopier for a school in Haiti.. This year, 2010, we contributed $2680.00 to the Silver Lake Rowing Club.
