EGERTON RYERSON AWARD
In 1995, a new award was established for RTO/ERO District 12, Norfolk. The "Egerton Ryerson Award" was initiated to provide recognition for those
members who have been loyal supporters of RTO. After our 25th anniversary celebrations in 1994, it was realized some
members had been retired for 35 years. Therefore our Executive felt some
recognition was well deserved. A suitable replica of a school hand bell
was selected with a title inscribed "Egerton Ryerson Award" commemorating
the founder of Ontario's education system and a native son of Norfolk. The
award honours those teachers who have supported Norfolk RTO for 25 or more
years. A suitable inscription "In Appreciation For Many Years of Valued
Support of RTO/ERO District 12, Norfolk" is engraved on the award. Also it
was decided by our Executive to record these names in a book called "The
Egerton Ryerson Book of Remembrance". The first of these awards were presented at our Annual Meeting in October,
1995.
